If you were to see the world
as it is now
what would it be like
to you
old man
you who have seen much
and lost more
more than one could
in a life time
If you were to hear the ocean
and listen to its waves
could you discern
its sadness
depth within depth
to the very floor
where not even a ray
have ever penetrated
If you were to feel the Himalayas
not with eyes indifferent
but with each breath breathless
when your feet graces
the ancient pathways
till toiling to the zenith (finally!)
higher up above the clouds
that vista once,
gods jealously guarded
Will it mean
a closure; the final end
or will it lead to much more
as mortality embraces
that which can never be killed
the priceless gift to mankind
such eternally so blessed
but sadly forgotten
as you are
old man
as you are
as it is now
what would it be like
to you
old man
you who have seen much
and lost more
more than one could
in a life time
If you were to hear the ocean
and listen to its waves
could you discern
its sadness
depth within depth
to the very floor
where not even a ray
have ever penetrated
If you were to feel the Himalayas
not with eyes indifferent
but with each breath breathless
when your feet graces
the ancient pathways
till toiling to the zenith (finally!)
higher up above the clouds
that vista once,
gods jealously guarded
Will it mean
a closure; the final end
or will it lead to much more
as mortality embraces
that which can never be killed
the priceless gift to mankind
such eternally so blessed
but sadly forgotten
as you are
old man
as you are
